Registering a new student

The district’s registration guide says to go in person, with your child, to the school assigned to your home address. Bring:

  • Proof of age: an authentic document issued by a government agency. A school can enroll a child temporarily and give the family 30 days to produce it.
  • Proof of residence: a Statement of Bona Fide Residence (form FM-7444).
  • Florida Certificate of Immunization (DH-680) and a physical. The health department gives free school-entry vaccines at 786-845-0550.

The school will also ask you to fill in the home language survey, the emergency student data form and a registration disclosure. Children who are 5 by Sept. 1 can start kindergarten. Students moving from elementary to middle, or middle to high school, are assigned to their boundary school automatically.

What this means for you
