Getting a place

General registration for the marathon and half is sold out, according to the registration page. The free waitlist was open from Aug. 6 to Sept. 30, 2026. Since Oct. 5, the organizer has been drawing names by lottery as places open. If you are picked, an email comes from hello@letsdothis.com with a link that expires in about 48 hours, and you pay the full entry fee at that point.

The Tropical 5K on Saturday, Jan. 30, is still open on its event page. It starts at 7:30 a.m. on the MacArthur Causeway on the east side of Watson Island and finishes at 1 Washington Ave. in Miami Beach. Everyone has to keep a 20-minute-mile pace and finish within an hour. There is no parking at the Miami Children’s Museum; runners park at the organizer’s garages and take a shuttle to the start from 5:30 to 7 a.m.

The course

The marathon is a certified, flat, single-loop course that qualifies for Boston, and the half runs the same course to the same finish line, the course page says. The organizer describes views along the water, the Art Deco buildings of South Beach and the Port of Miami; the road closures below show where the course runs.

Road closures

These are the closure windows on the organizer’s course page now. The community notice says updated closures go up closer to race day, and we will add them here.

Area Closed
Downtown and Brickell 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.
MacArthur Causeway, eastbound 5 to 8:15 a.m.
Miami Beach 5 to 10 a.m.
Venetian Causeway 6 to 10 a.m.
Rickenbacker Causeway 6:30 a.m. to noon
Coconut Grove 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

To get on or off Miami Beach between 6 and 10 a.m., the organizer says use the Julia Tuttle Causeway. Miami, Miami Beach and Miami-Dade police manage the closed roads and let traffic across intersections in gaps between runners.

Expo and bib pickup

The expo at Mana Wynwood, 318 NW 23rd St., runs noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30. It is the only place to collect a bib: there is no race-day registration and no race-day pickup. Bring a photo ID and the Life Time Digital app with your event pass. Someone collecting for you needs a copy of your photo ID.

For spectators

  • The start line is an athletes-only zone. Watch the start on the livestream screen at Bayfront Park instead, the spectator page says.
  • Bleachers just south of the finish line at Bayfront Park are first come, first served.
  • Text alerts track a runner across the timing mats from the start of the race.
  • Cheer zones along the course have an emcee, music and signs; the spectator page lists them by mile and says the list may change.

Kids Run Miami

Miami-Dade schools and youth groups train from October and run the last mile of their marathon on race day. The Final Mile starts at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, on NW Third Street between North Miami Avenue and NW First Avenue. Children 6 to 13 whose school is not in the program can enter the timed Kids Mile on the same course; shirts and bibs are handed out at the start from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., and families get themselves there.
