This week’s big one: king tide flooding Monday and Tuesday
The National Weather Service in Miami issued a coastal flood warning for coastal Miami-Dade County from 2 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. It expects moderate flooding around high tide, reaching major flood stage Monday and Tuesday, and says numerous roads may be closed and low-lying homes and businesses will be inundated. The weather service says coastal flood advisories will be needed through much of this week after the king tides peak.
High tide at Virginia Key, per NOAA’s tide predictions:
- Monday, Oct. 26: 9:44 a.m. and 9:48 p.m.
- Tuesday, Oct. 27: 10:31 a.m. and 10:34 p.m.
The weather service says not to drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Check FL511 for closures before you leave.
