Why a NASCAR driver is visiting a Moose lodge
The Moose Fraternity sponsors Chastain’s racing. He drives the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Trackhouse Racing, and the fraternity says it is a primary partner for select races and an associate partner for the full season, in a partnership that began in 2020.
The fraternity describes itself as “an international organization of men and women dedicated to caring for young and old, bringing communities closer together, and celebrating life.”
In its announcement extending the deal through the 2026 and 2027 Cup Series seasons, Moose International called Chastain a 32-year-old native of Alva, Fla., and said the fraternity uses him “in membership and charity initiatives away from the track.” Chastain said he and his family are members of the Moose lodge in Tice and the Shores, Fla.
“The Moose Fraternity has been with me at racetracks and taken me to lodges across the country. They are salt of the earth, good people who I have watched give back to the community,” Chastain said in the Moose International announcement.
The Moose car was on track for two of Chastain’s best-known moments: his Cup Series win at Talladega Superspeedway in April 2022 and his “Hail Melon” wall ride at Martinsville Speedway in October 2022, when he rode the outside wall through the final two corners to pass several cars and reach the Championship 4.
